  1. Whereas we live in a country of freedoms, but people are oppressed
Whereas our country is one of the richest in the world, but our children go to bed hungry and walk the streets homeless
Whereas we have a constitution defining our rights under the law, but there are people who trample them into unrecognizable forms
Whereas we are assumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but there are officers of the law stomping down on the necks of individuals who were in the wrong place at the wrong time
Whereas I want to wake up tomorrow in a land of truly free people, rather than the oppression that lies heavy upon my brothers and sisters
Whereas the sun will rise tomorrow and hope is possible with the passage of time and the re-awakening of a sense of morality
