    When the moon rises,
Sending slanted shafts of pale light
    over my bed,
    My day begins
    in dreams that follow moonlight,
    In the red light
    In the yellow light
In the soft light of dawn that follows dreams,
    And the dreaming day begins,
And I walk in the wind
    In the birdsong
In the fragrant scent of the hot forest
Dreaming of the moon’s next awakening.

How I move through my day –

Now, this week is different from last.

Last week was hectic from morning to night – end of a semester – grading! Fielding questions! Justifying grades! Reminding students of details in the syllabus and much, much more!.

This week – ah! It’s calm, serene, preparing for CPA, learning about new colleagues – fellow students (hello!), hugging our dogs more, contemplating, drinking tea, a lull before the storm of learning again!

PROMPT: Write about how you move through your day

    Melissa Adylia Calasanz

    subtle gestures
    the foundation

    found
    in technique
    from time
    powerful
    gentle

    once a dancer
    always a dancer

forever a student as a teacher

    propelled
    with the gift of
    appreciation

    the rhythm of awareness

    this gift
    life

    each gesture

    breath
    body
    spirit

    intention

    voice
    hands
    eyes

    to move freely
    a voice
    of love
    compassion
    kindness
    respect
    patience

    i intend
    to move
    with grace,

  4. About how I move through my day~~~

I wake up hoping today is better than yesterday.
I see the cheery bluebird, its iridescent feathers glittering in the sunlight.
It sings, “cheer, cheerful charmer” to the world, these lilting notes lift my spirit.

    The world is so chaotic.
    War, death, starvation, disease, suicide.
What have we done to place us in this moment of time, but the better question is how can we move from this position to some semblance of sanity, of forgiveness, of generosity.

I move through my day with a sense of thankfulness…I am here, I have shelter, I have food.
    I am so blessed.

I pray that these gifts may be bestowed upon all who find the world so unforgiving.
To see the light is to have hope and to dance the dance of joy.

    My Covid Dance
    ———————

    B.C. (before Covid), I moved…
    With ease,
With a bounce in my step,
    With a life force,
    With a magical bippity-boppity-boo.

    D.C. (during Covid), I move…
    On the defensive,
As if my life depends on it
    ( And it does.),
    Navigating nervously through crowds,
Leaning back instead of leaning in,
Hugging and kissing us a greeting?
    HA, and again, HA—
    That is off the table.

    It’s the Covid cha-cha-cha…
    2 steps forward
    1 step back.
    If, however, I view it
    From the mezzanine,
    At least this dance,
    Appears to be
    Choreographically
    One step closer
    To hope.

    These Days

    These days slow,
    Free,
    Feel,
    Feeling,
    Feels like…

    The abrupt divide
    Of times past,
    Of past times,
    Timing…
    From that time.

    That dark time,
    That time of trying,
    Ever trying,
    Ever yearning,
    Ever failing,
    Ever flailing,
    Never arriving.
    Never there.

    Now, I’m here.
    I’ve let go,
    I’ve given up.
    And in doing so,
    I’m free.
