    About an unexpected gift~~~

    She was born on a chilly March morning,

    Coming into this world with Down syndrome

    And other anatomical abnormalities that threatened Her existence.

    Skilled professionals attended to them

    And worked their miracles upon her fragile body.

    Slowly but surely, she gained her strength

    And finally came home to her loving family.

    An answer to all our prayers.

    A short period of time later,

    She was to be baptized

    Within the church.

    Her parents asked me to be her Godmother at her baptism

    And I immediately responded Yes.

    I remember this special day as I held her In my arms, presenting her to the Lord

    As a member of His holy church.

    An unexpected gift that I will treasure

    All the days of my life.
