Thank you to everyone who joined for this session!

For this session we examined the painting Cumulative Losses by Jennifer Packer, posted below.

Our prompt for this session was: “Write about setting things in motion.”

More details on this session will be posted, so check back!

Participants are warmly encouraged to share what you wrote below (“Leave a Reply”), to keep the conversation going here, bearing in mind that the blog of course is a public space where confidentiality is not assured.

Also, we would love to learn more about your experience of these sessions, so if you’re able, please take the time to fill out a follow-up survey of one to two quick questions!

    Setting In Motion

She sent me a picture of her new cat
one that is the transmigrated soul of her dead cat.

She is very clear about this, her soul mate cat returns,
    Where does anyone stand?

  2. About setting things in motion~~~

Life is like playing a game of pool– 8 ball to be exact.
Lining up the possibilities or potential results to the actions we take in this game of life.
Holding our breath as we line up our course of action with the hope that we do not suffer any dire consequences to ourselves or to those we hold close.

Unfortunately, the pathway of life is full of twists and turns, much of it not within our control.
The black 8 ball inevitably drops in the corner pocket prematurely, the game is lost. Replay.
Learn your lessons and begin again.

A life’s journey is a ricochet of all events and people that enter our lives. Each has an impact upon us whether we are aware of it or not.
Our goal is to find our way through this passage of living where, hopefully, we finally get the opportunity to drop that 8 ball in the corner pocket at the end.
    Victory!

    Snow Day

At the top of Suicide Hill stand the parkas,
the snowsuits, the puffy-vested regiment armed
with sleds, saucers, toboggans and snowboards.
Vertical becomes horizontal, physics takes over and
bodies in motion stay in motion, descend (at what feels like)
    warp speed.

Chilled breaths huffing, knuckles gripping, teeth rattling:
    “Fortune favors those who dare”
and a snow day is our call of duty.
