    About a period of change~~~

The pain sliced through my heart from front to back,
like being pierced by a red-hot poker.
    I felt like doubling over,
but I managed to remain upright.

I felt blindsided by some malevolent force,
but if I were to be true,
it had given me several warnings.

Who was this invader who stole away my life, my hope?

Who placed me in this antiseptic place with glaring lights,
with beeping monitors and masked strangers
    who spoke in hushed tones?

    When their task was completed,
and I awoke to join the living,
    the original pain had vanished
but it was replaced by others.

    The days crawled slowly by,
    while thoughts of doubt
    raced through my mind.

What was to become of me now?
    Would I be me again…
the person who never said no,
who never backed down from a challenge?

    It was a difficult time,
    filled with ups and downs,
    but one day I discovered
    the new me…
    wiser and more resilient,
    willing to forge new paths.
