    About tasting a strange fruit~~~

This dark red cherry-like fruit seems appetizing,
so why not give it a try?
I gingerly place it on my tongue and begin to chew.

It is oddly acidic; I didn’t expect that.
The more I chew, the more unbearably bitter it becomes.
I enjoy a good sour taste, but this odd fruit
    is something else entirely.
    Its juices are so astringent,
it immediately dries out the tissues in my mouth.

It is very difficult to chew,
as if bones or stones are hiding inside.
    Very deceiving, this strange fruit!

Now, do I attempt to swallow this confusing mess or
do I politely spit it out in the trash can?

It is a paradox of reality in today’s world…
    where sweet, sounding words
    underlie the cruelties that exist…
    hunger, killing, persecution…
pushing the world to its edge.

I decided to spit the fruit out,
but I cannot get rid of the “bitter taste”
    in my heart
from what mankind does to each other.

I didn’t expect it to taste like that.

It was so creepy ugly on the outside,

    Its smell was putrid,

    Yet it was colorfully enticing.

    I couldn’t help myself,

    I was mesmerized by it.

It spoke to my adventurous side.

It was like I I saw an image

of an invisible sign from Alice in Wonderland

    saying “eat me.”

    And so I did.

So now you must want to know how it tasted.

    All I can say is,

    ummm,

    well,

    oh,

    It’s indescribable.
