    The Nature of Man

Shedding the shuck of a cocoon
    encased for four decades
evolving from novice to master of some things
    sometimes barely able to move
and at others standing at the ocean’s edge
I now must spread my wings and let go
of the responsibilities of caring for others and
see where the Spirit wants me to go
    new opportunities and
I find myself amazed at how quickly
a butterfly finds itself aloft upon emergence
    and out of reach
    on its maiden flight
    so fast so fast…

from the confinement of the cocoon, the wings unfurl…form is transformed… ready to begin again and explore the world without constraint, to soar the skies free!

I have always been fascinated by butterflies especially their flight. I would reach for them on a flower and in an instant they would be way beyond reach, with a single effort. I also found it amazing to watch them slowly devour a leaf and grow as the day goes on.

  2. About a metamorphosis underway~~~

    Life everchanging
Birth… helpless, dependent…wanting and requiring only the necessities of life
Growing and maturing… horizons and desires expanding… basic needs met but replaced with the concept “more and more is better”
Stomping over others to achieve the prize…sacrificing others to secure the goal

Moving blindly toward the edge of a cliff… nowhere to go… others standing beside me…disillusioned as I
Jolts of sanity hitting the mind… tolerance, compassion, fairness, generosity, co-existence
Step back from the edge… re-evaluate and re-do and maybe this time, get it right

I hear two journeys, one of ascent and one of descent. The journey of ascent might be more “fruitful” if we learned not to take more than we need. Perhaps we would find our way onto the journey of descent (the wise old fool perhaps) sooner and sanity might not be so jolting. Andre

    Write About a Metamorphosis Underway

Microscopic seeds blossom into a glorious field of flowers.
    Caterpillars evolve into triumphant butterflies.
The timid, anxious girl transforms into a powerful woman who speaks loudly for herself and others.

    Better late than never…

This session was so rich! Thank you all so much for it.

I just want to clarify on my last point on what Emily’s and Ellen’s works made me realize about
“stuckness” and metamorphosis (because I didn’t articulate it well out of excitement about it).

You helped me see that being stuck is an integral part of metamorphosis. And yet, it’s a paradox because stuck cannot mean the same as change or else it ceases to be what it is. So, it’s comforting to know that being stuck is required to incite change – and yet, it is essential to actually BE stuck for the change to occur. That stage cannot be rushed, and ironically, it requires a kind of pain and frustration of feeling like change will never come in order for it to fulfill its part of the process.

Thank you to Emily and Ellen for helping me see that through your creations today. And thank you to this entire community for inspiring me to write this piece today. I hope you enjoy it.

    Metamorphosis

    Change dear spring

    Change your heart

    Change your breath

    Change your lifeblood.

    Eat dear child

    Eat your demons

    Eat your desires

    Eat your Soul.

For when you look inside the same pool that reflects back at you,

    You cease looking the same.

You cease trying to be anything else.

    And just are

    A constant change.

    Cease dear one

    Cease your futility

    Cease your efforts.

For forces will take up upon you,

Like big blowing wind in pillowcase sails of childhood fun.

    You will change

    In ways unimaginable.

Precisely when you begin to imagine,

    When you start recreation

    Of creating nothing at all.
