“All Hallows’ Eve” by Dorothea Tanning

Be perfect, make it otherwise.
Yesterday is torn in shreds.
Lightning’s thousand sulfur eyes
Rip apart the breathing beds.
Hear bones crack and pulverize.
Doom creeps in on rubber treads.
Countless overwrought housewives,
Minds unraveling like threads,
Try lipstick shades to tranquilize
Fears of age and general dreads.
Sit tight, be perfect, swat the spies,
Don’t take faucets for fountainheads.
Drink tasty antidotes. Otherwise
You and the werewolf: newlyweds.

    Yours of Mine?

    magic mushrooms
    laced pot
    kaleidoscope colours
    shapes askew
    au secours!
    lost yet found
    in the mist of the
    unraveled mind
    not sure if it’s
    yours or mine.

    Mind unraveling
    Like a spool of thread
    That appears never ending
    Until it does
    End and is done
    Like the issue at hand
    There is a break
    Until the next round of
    Mind unraveling

  3. Minds unraveling~~~

The mind crowded with jagged thoughts,
piercing the brain like hundreds of sharp-pointed pins.
It has no time to contemplate on the mundane, the beautiful, the comfortable.
There are wars raging, children starving, people being trampled upon.

What sense to make of all of this?
The mind is overburdened, overworked, and seeks refuge.
And so, it unravels, searching for truth in this jumbled mess we find ourselves.

In the unraveling, there is peace and safety from the world that surrounds us.

Minds unravelling like an amalgamation of our words landing upon themselves
Breathing, pulsating, dancing between the gaps and pages
A dazzling intimate meeting of words and worlds that symbiotically merge in to one
No differentiation of what is I and what is you
    A slow brewing combustion
Dancing the Viennese Waltz close to silence
    She is temporarily made real
    Herself in ink
    Therefore, she must be….

I really enjoyed this session and all of its Halloween-feels!
Thank you for it and for helping me to write this in community.

    Minds Unravelling

    Our minds unravel
    As we peer through PPE
    See the quiet veil
    Of another history
    That couldn’t be.
What do you want from me?

    Pulling my cerebellum
    Like a cord
    Of chordates
    Of apes.
    A sweater’s woven mystery
    Of a lover
    Very unkind to me.

    You speak to me
    From useless misery.
    You see me
    As an infinite legacy.
    For other generations
    To take that lining
    And weave
    Its silver specks
    Within our identity.
